In January, Jennifer and I, along with our literary agent, decided it was time to write our second book; this time we wanted to do something different. We've written health and fitness in books, newspapers, talked about it on TV, radio and in front of live audiences, but we never shared our faith and how it relates to our health. So, we decided we would write a Christian health and fitness book. In it we would explain what the bible has to say about our body, our health and our spiritual life. We wanted to develop a special nutrition and exercise program for the book and also a program that helped people spend time with God…so we did. Next, our agent asked us to have lots of people test the program and then we would highlight their stories along with their before and after pictures. This we decided against because it has been done to death and we thought it no longer carries the shock value it once did. Instead, we opted to take one person from our church and transform his or her life. (By the way, we attend Christ's Church in Highlands Ranch; you should check it out it's a wonderful church 303-683-1203 or go to www.cchr.info. The reason why we only wanted to highlight one person's story is that we really wanted you to get to know him or her. We chose a man named Kevin and when you read his story you'll realize he's just like you and me. Kevin is the guy the next door, a "regular Joe" with all the same ups and downs every one of us experience. In the book, we wanted to weave Kevin's journal throughout each chapter so by the time you reached the end you felt like you knew Kevin like a close friend. We wanted you to rejoice with Kevin, cry with Kevin, feel his pain, and feel his joy.

Kevin began his journey with us on April 1st and finished on Labor Day. His goal was to lose as much weight as possible, gain muscle and be a whole lot healthier, but it turned into to be so much more. In fact, the miraculous weight loss wasn't even the best part. Every part of Kevin's life changed and got better. When you read his story, you'll be amazed at what happened to his relationship with God, his wife, his kids and how his business took off. When we speak at corporations, we tell people that when they get into great shape, it spills over into every area of their life. Most people don't understand how their professional, personal and spiritual life can get better by being healthy; to be honest with you… you really have to experience it for yourself to understand it.

Below we have put together a presentation highlighting Kevin's before and after pictures as well as his statistics like measurements and key health markers. Click the presentation below and view Kevin's remarkable transformation. We have also included excerpts of his journal along with his wife Kristin's journal. There were no magic pills or supplements used to gain his results. We just taught Kevin what we've always been teaching our clients for over a combined 40 years. We educate people on the science of nutrition (not fad diets). We teach people the role of strength training and help people move their bodies to gain cardiovascular benefits. Kevin was and is the perfect student. He ate exactly what we told him, in proper portions and at the exact times of day we recommended. He worked out six days a week and did not miss one workout over a five month period, despite facing some unbelievable obstacles. Struggles in his personal life that would have stopped the rest of us right our in tracks. We have not seen this type of determination, focus and desire in someone in quite a long time; it was a pleasure to watch and be a part of.

The purpose of sharing this good news is that anyone of you can achieve Kevin-type results. If you have been thinking about getting started on a program, then speak with us about achieving your best physical health now. Kevin and Kris's Journals

April 2, 2006
Dan approached me again about my commitment level. My mind is still saying no but my heart is finally saying yes. I'm afraid this is going to suck. I feel like I am going to eat cardboard for the rest of my life. I just came back from a mission trip and I was looking at pictures of myself; I see myself as having some very serious health problems. I went to the doctor for a physical and to get my blood work done and I am waiting for my test results. After that, I will begin my workout and start eating the right foods. I will meet with Dan's wife, Jennifer, about the nutrition portion of the program.

April 14. 2006
This is the second day of the workout and I am sore from head to toe. My arms hurt so bad that I can't even scratch my own ear! My whole family has been eating better for two days and I sure could go for a triple cheeseburger about now. But the healthy food doesn't taste like cardboard like I thought it would. All my measurements are done and the camera has taken the no- lie pictures that show how big I really am.

I am truly feel blessed that Dan and Jen gave me this chance because there are a lot of other people that could benefit from this program. But most of all, I need to thank God for opening the door for this to happen. I had a little setback because I was looking forward to my first cheat day, which was supposed to be Easter Sunday. I was planning to pig out that day. But Dan said that I could not have a cheat day for the first two weeks. This was tough because everybody was having lots of food all day long.

The workouts have been going good, but I am struggling with the crunches. I could only get through about 30 of them before my stomach locked up and I couldn't finish. This is the last day of my three-day workout week and it's a little disheartening to see how much of my strength is gone. I felt a lot weaker than I thought I was and that is very hard for me.

April 19, 2006
Yesterday was by far the hardest. All the food I ate that day tasted horrible and I am tired for no reason. This is where it helps that I told everyone in our family, all our friends, and our church that I am doing this program. My commitment to them and to Dan and Jen helped get me through. Today was the first day that my son worked out with me, and it was fun.

I also started my second week of lifting and it felt great to do the workout. I moved up in weight and could get through the first 45 crunches without cramping up, even though I cramped up on the next stomach exercise. I talked to my dad again today. He is still not drinking. How awesome is that? I also talked to my sister, and now she is joining a health club so she can start getting in shape! This is totally amazing to me. Since I started doing this, eight people that I am close to have decided to start getting healthier. Wow!

What a great last few days it has been. My father and mother have made it one full week without a drink. I had my first walk outside instead of on the treadmill and that was at 5:30 A.M. for about 40 minutes. I lost track of time; it felt so good. I made it through my first cheat day, but I only cheated on one meal, which was lunch. It was hard for me to cheat because I did not want to undo what I had done to this point.

My wife and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and pigged out. After eating just a little over a quarter of my food, my stomach started hurting so I stopped eating. I got home and felt so bad that I went out with the kids and the dog for a 2.5-mile walk just to get my stomach to quit hurting. God has blessed me again because, for the first time in about 10 years, I can see my feet without pulling my belly out of the way. And I can bend over to tie my shoes without struggling to breathe. Plus, my wife and I worked with the youth group at church last night, which was the first time in long, long time that I played games with them without having to quit because I was too tired. At this point I am down 18 pounds. Praise God!

Kristen's Journal
March 1, 2006

I was so excited when Dan approached Kevin and asked him participate in his workout program. Kevin has tried many times to get his weight down and nothing has worked. I will always love Kevin no matter how much he weighs, but I am so happy that he will be able to play with our sons and walk up the stairs without being out of breath. I pray that this will help him to feel good about himself again. I realize that I will have to be at his side every step of the way for him to succeed. I really believe we can do this together.

I'm a little scared of the nutrition part of the program because I don't know how to cook in a healthy way. I grew up eating fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and some vegetables. Every meal had something fried in it. I drink four or five diet Cokes a day, and chips are my favorite snack, which I eat by the bagful. I would like to eat healthier because I know it will change my life as well as Kevin's. I feel that I have contributed to Kevin's weight gain by the way I eat. I have never had to exercise and I could eat whatever I want. I do pray that Kevin will be able to do this and I pray that God will show me how to support him and make this a success for both of us.

I have always been in relatively good shape. I am 5'5, 125 pounds, which is the heaviest I have ever been. My major health problem is migraines, which I get every other day. They are so bad sometimes that I feel sick and have to lay low for two or three days.

April 9, 2006
Today Kevin stood up before the entire church and told them about his plan to lose weight and get healthier. I could not do that but I was so proud of him. I stand by him and know we will be held accountable by a many of our friends and family.

April 18, 2006 I'm having a little bit of a struggle because I feel like my family thinks I'm crazy. People ask me, "Why would you want to lose weight?" I tell them I am changing the way I eat so I can be healthy. My goal here is to lose a little weight, but my main focus is to get into shape, feel better, not feel so tired, and to support the man I love. I have many areas on my body I need to tone that I can hide real well with clothes. When you have had four children there are areas that you need to tone and get back into shape. I look at it as a life change, not a diet.

April 20, 2006
I have not had any Diet Coke and I have not had to take Tylenol, or any medications for headaches. I used to take up to eight Tylenols a day and not even think about it. My migraines so far have been zero. The only thing I changed was the way I eat and drink and a 40 to 45 minute workout plan.

I feel great and I have so much more energy. Kevin feels great, too. I think in doing this we have inspired so many other people. I know they look at us and say if you can give up your Diet Coke, then I can give up on my bad habits. I can honestly say that water was not in my daily routine. I know that sounds crazy, but I did not drink water when I was thirsty; I would grab a Diet Coke instead. Since I started drinking water my body craves it. It amazes me on how much better I feel. I don't know how I went so long without it. Kevin is doing so well he amazes me. We both feel like we have a new life. We can walk and exercise together.
